Evening all,
Just before I went on holiday, when I opened the roof oil started dripping from the mechanism on the drivers side
I’m hoping it’s a split hose I can replace. Has anyone else had similar issues?
Thanks
James

Can you be more specif as to the location ?
All of the lines are simple connections to swap, its just a case of getting access to them.
If you are based in Leeds, send DucklakeView (Mike) a message on Merseyside. He will know whats where.

There have been a few cases of the hydraulic lines failing on the E89. Depending on where it is, if it's the one that goes to the top lock, it is a very labour intensive fix, as the line snakes it's way through a very difficult route.
Mine failed a couple of months ago, and Cayman Autos of Dorking (a hard top specialist), charged a very competitive £900 to change the hose. This was one that was made up by a company such as Pirtek, as opposed to a OEM replacement from BMW, that comes with the wiring/loom wrapped around it.
If you google it, there have been documented cases on the net, and the complexity of the fix.

They had to completely disassemble the roof to fit the hose and it took 2.5 days - I've heard of, and had far more horrendous quotes for the same work!Ducklakeview wrote: ↑Thu Oct 05, 2017 11:55 pm

This was to fit a new hose in its entirety, not repairing a borked section, by using connectors. I should have also said that 3 micro switches were replaced as part of the total cost. Also included the dreaded VAT.
