Agreed mate!
I just feel that theres a fine line between value/running costs when buying a niche used car.
All cars have a ”life” and that life is mostly defined by how well it was designed/built and how well it was cared for by the previous owners....all variables I cant do much about.
If you have been lucky to have no issues, thats great, but plenty of people have been seriously bitten and lost lots of money when buying secondhand.
There are a fair few reports of people having adaptive suspension issues at £1000 a corner to repair...roofs failing and needing £2000 of repairs..the likelihood of that happening is very slightly higher than the likelihood of an aeroplane landing on my head
You just have to read this forum to see the amount of people that are paying over the odds for used z4’s because they are buying from a dealer and the dealer warranty/used car provenance is an essential requirement for them.

Yeah I really hope that nothing happens with the car if it cost that much, yikesKugaman1 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2017 5:55 pm Agreed mate!

If the suspension fails I'll just buy coilovers, seems much cheaper rather then fix or replace with OEM parts.

The total cost would be £2,500 for all 4 corners (supply only not fitted) - only available from BMW
That's why I decided to go coilovers - with adjustable from camber as a bonus

Not sure what you are trying to say here. You just posted a load of links to a 3.0 with an auto slushbox.mcbutler wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2017 11:29 amA couple of examples then, not from BMW of course, they want you to spend your cash on the more expensive box.
If we went through the whole list of models you will probably find examples both sides of the fence, but a faster car, driver connection and for less cash and way lower repair costs when the auto dies, manual for me. I have had hi tech autos on an M3 and C63, they are certainly good but not manual boxes.

The DCT option on the 35i makes the car a load faster. There's no arguing against that.
If you prefer manual then that's fine. But if you're saying you chose manual because it's faster then you made a mistake

I will eat my hat if a manual car is quicker than a DCT (not std auto) I have yet to meet someone who can change gear in fractions of a millisecond , also its the skill of being in the right gear at the right time , whether you push a stick & press a pedal or use a paddle switch not really relevantmcbutler wrote: ↑Sat Oct 28, 2017 11:29 amA couple of examples then, not from BMW of course, they want you to spend your cash on the more expensive box.
