Bit of sad news after roughly six and half years of Z4 ownership in my e85 and e89 I am moving to the dark side some would say.
I have decide to go for a Porsche 987 Cayman S in Atlas Grey. It's a lovely car in superb condition full main dealer and specialist history and a very extensive set of receipts for all the other maintenance the car has had.
I have enjoyed owning both my Z4's and will be sad to see mine go next Friday. An upcoming change in my work life has really brought about the change. The Z4 was going to become a weekend car as I need to get a more sensible and cheaper to run car to commute in. However man maths made me decide I should get something different for my weekend toy as well.
Any way a final picture of my current E89.
Plus one of the new Cayman
I'm not the most active member on here but have enjoyed going to some of the meets over the years . This forum has also always been very helpful whenever I have had problems with my Z4's so big thanks to everyone.
Now I just need to actually get the sensible car I was supposed to buy

Good luck. I went for a 981 Cayman in August and I love it. Never driven the 987 but they are very different cars to the Zeds.
Your E89 does look lovely though. You must try different cars as you never know which one suits you best and also it isn't as if you can't ever go back.

Lovely E89 but the Cayman is pretty special
I'm guessing you're trading in the E89? - Member here call 'gov' has been patiently waiting for a Red E89 for ages

It's a gen 1 987 well aware of the potential issues and have done my homework. The car is from a Porsche specialist so I'm confident it's currently ok. Just got to keep the maintenance up and look after it and hopefully all will be well. Comes with a full 6 warranty that is with the garage not a third party as well. So hopefully that's enough time for any issues to pop up.
Thanks Marlon I was going to trade it in I got a good deal overall on the Cayman including the e89.

Although a little more hassle imho you ought to have sold your E89 privately Phil, I’ve seen it, it’s mint. Someone will bag a beauty there.
Anyway you got a deal you’re happy with so that’s all that matters. Congrats on the Cayman, such superb steering feel on those.

Thanks John agree someone will get a cracking car I will be sad to see it go I have certainly enjoyed owning it. I did think about a private sale and to be honest would have if I had not got offered a price I was happy with. Biggest thing was I did not want the Cayman to slip through my fingers it's such a sorted and nice example. As you say the steering feel is superb it felt super sharp and planted to drive.john-e89 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2017 12:02 pm Although a little more hassle imho you ought to have sold your E89 privately Phil, I’ve seen it, it’s mint. Love 'em. Not ready to part with my Z4 yet but this would be on the list.
Wish you well with it.
