cruise control retrofit?

Post by Punter » Thu Sep 18, 2014 4:56 pm

Anyone done this? Is it possible? I would imagine that all the gubbins are in there. Maybe just need to buy the stalk control and different column cover? Dealer wasn't helpful. Any thoughts?

Have a little search on the forums, it's been done before and doesn't seem too hard ;)

It's not quite that straight forward on the e89. It's not just a stalk like the e85/6.

It requires coding and the complete replacement of the steering column switchgear, which is a £300 part unless you can get one from the scrappers etc.

Very possible though. You don't get the cruise speedo lights though as you would if fitted at the factory. It shows the speed settings in the Amber panel on the dash.

ooo er that sounds messy... wonder why it doesn't display correctly despite coding.

Factory fitted cruise has a different speedo, with LEDs around it to show set speed etc. do it after market and it shows in the Amber panel in the centre of the speedo/Rev counter.

I enquired about retrofit CC to my E88 and was given two completely different prices, one said £600 all in whilst another dealer said £1400. Quite a layout for it.
Deep Sea Blue sDrive35is - I LOVE IT! Best car I've ever owned :) - Gone
RRS V8 Supercharged - Gone
Abarth 595 Competizione - Gone
Yas Marina Blue M4 Coupe - Gone

Current:
Protonic Blue i8
Amethyst 997
F56 JCW Challenge (19 of 52)

Still Shy and retiring

I bought an E85 first and it didn't have cc - I asked the dealer to fit it cost, no wouldn't budge on the price. From memory it was £400 ish

Following instructions on the forum £60 part an 30 mins it was sorted.

If only it was that simple or cheap on the E89!
