Recently, there has been two cars stolen in my neighborhood.

Its by no means a bad area, so the cars were scoped and it was planned.

Trouble is, now who ever did the job knows where a lovely Z4 is parked.

Just wondering if anyone has had their car nicked, or the theft rates of E89 Z4s?

I am going to have a tracker installed non-the less.
I will make a post with pics when done!

Are these sought after cars?
I may have to think about garaging it somewhere else. :(

They got an Audi S4 and a 3 Series.

3 Series was new (66) and audi was a 2015 or something.

I think both are popular cars amongst car theives.

Z4 is not a popular car.. you should be worried if it's a high spec German saloon or an estate. So Audi's, new 3/5 series, range rovers etc but a z4 is not in high demand I'm sure.

Our cars are to softy softy hairdresser for the criminal scum. I used to sleep better with a Porsche Boxster on my drive than I ever did when we had an RS Audi.

Put your mind at rest, I think (hope) you will be fine!

Interesting thread. Now I come to think of it, I can't recall a single post regarding a theft of a Z4.

There was a roadster taken a coupe of years back during a house burglary and I remember seeing an advert for a coupe that had been stolen / recovered but they are the only 2 I've seen.

Boot isn't big enough for a body or any swag and your henchmen, they stick out on the road too much, and they are not sought after in Africa. Joy riders would struggle to get the started without the keys, unlike the MG Maestros and RS Turbo's of old.

Reminds me... a friend's 2014 X5 was stolen last week while parked on the street locked and without its keys, can only imagine the thieves lifted it on to a truck as the smash window/OBD key clone method isn't possible on Fxx cars is it? Are E89s vulnerable to that method?

It seems their prefferred method was to break in to the house and steal the keys.

Not sure how easy they are to start without the keys.
No doubt it can be done, but not for the average thief!

Fingers crossed, but on Honest John's car theft page they are talking about 6 per 10,000 vehicles being stolen.
Given that they're relatively rare, and not very practical, I suspect there's not a lot to worry about - but as always, s#it happens...
