Z4 roof problems
I have just purchased a 55 plate z4 with a non working roof, the red light is just flashing all the time even without the button pressed.
The other owner said it might be roof motor?today i have checked the motor and it looks like it's new ..the front latches when i press the buttons don't seem to release?and the windows don't go down?
Do i need the foot on the brake when i operate the roof ?Well try to?also does car need to be running ?
Any help would be appreciated..
I have checked the microswitch in the boot and it is working okay..
I tried also to release the front latches and the allen key kept tur img and got tight then loose again ? So doesn't seem to release ..
Thanks again for any help..Brian

Where are you? I can fix that for a fraction of what a dealer or independent would charge you. Drop me an email to [email protected]

Normally if it's the hydraulic roof motor it will still unlatch won't it? Mine wouldn't unlatch and it turned out to be a wire running to the latch motor had broken, I opened the roof manually part way, took the headliner off at the front and spliced in a new section of cable (it runs along the passenger side in-between the roof and the headlining)

I had exactly the same issue although mine was intermittent. Same remedy, spliced in some new wires to the loom. It's a very cheap fix if you can do it yourself although a little fiddly.

How can you see the motor, has it already been relocated to the boot? You don't need to press the brake to operate the roof.Brian77 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 17, 2017 5:45 pm I have just purchased a 55 plate z4 with a non working roof, the red light is just flashing all the time even without the button pressed.

Update ,i have managed to release front latches and found that both latch drive cables from the motor to latches are broken..i have ordered new ones.
Anyone changed these ? Just wondering if you need latches in certain position in relation to the motor before fitting new ones?to keep latches in sync..
