Glovebox handle...
My Newly bought Z4 came with a broken glovebox handle. I managed to put it back together by using a wire coat hanger to replace the missing pins but the mechanism is very loose. Ideally I'd like to replace the handle but they seem quite hard to come by. Does anyone know of they're shared with another BMW?

I have a spare handle but it comes with lock! although the lock I think only works with the car key that it came from?! as it doesn't work with my key.
or you can buy the part from BMW:

I've been speaking with Jamie at Soper who said that a new handle comes without the lock barrel so you need to swap them over. Sounds like a fiddly job though so might be one for the stealer, unless anyone has got a workshop manual with instructions in they could share?

+1 to having a copy of the TIS, but it is also available (although not as straightforward) online: http://tis.spaghetticoder.org/

Re: Glovebox handle...
It just fell off on it's own guv!
Yep got in to the car this afternoon and it was ROASTING, looked down and the glove box handle had fallen off complete with lock and a spring! I haven't had a chance to check it out yet but I'm assuming something has over-expanded and come loose, or plastic fatigued?
Anyway I will have to ring Sopers for a new one, I've got a TIS and I assume it can't be too difficult even to change the lock over, is it?

Butterfly effect, someone did a little on one thread, a quick and months later someone on the other side of the country misses out on a cheap handle

Yea I know it's the latest I could find about busted glove box handles, I thought it was better to keep it in one place and people to refer to itDangerous-Dave wrote:Wow, just seen how old the original thread is.
