Whenever i sit in my beloved Z, i get a 'clunk' noise from the drivers side rear.
It then makes another noise when i get out of the car.
other than losing some weight, is this a common symptom of something?

Not quite sure but you could check to see if you have a broken rear spring which is quite common

It's the floor panel flexing under you seat. Push the seat forward and push your hand on the floor where the seat was. Mine clunks if you do this.

Might be the handbrake shoes and mechanism. Quite common for it to make a noise getting in or out of the car. It's more often a squeak rather than a clunk though - can be cured with a strip down and lubrication.
