Roof woes
Hi all,
my roof has been absolutely trouble free until the first sunny day and I actually wanted to drive with it down. On pressing the button I got nothing. The little red LED lit up but no windows moving, no unlatching and no noise at all. Any tips on where to start please. Should have got the motor relocated I know.
thanks, Clive.

Are you sure the led is red and not orange?

Thank you for the quick reply's.
Schoolboy error, I must have overpacked the boot last week when I went to Switzerland which in turn must have knocked the microswitch.
A quick raise then lower (boot shelf) and alls good again. Now just trying to unblock my drain plug with net curtain wire, see if that works.
thanks again.

The drain 'plug' as it is referred to is actually a non return valve that is at the outlet end of the drain to prevent road debris entering the tube whilst still allowing water to flow out of the drainage channel. These rubber grommet style items can only be removed from underneath the car. Most blockages are caused in cars that are never garaged as the build up of detritus at the top of the tube (where the entry aperture is way too small) is far greater over time causing a blockage at the top of the tube (which can be cleared from the bottom by inserting curtain wire and reaming to the top).

Thank you for that guide.
All done now. After I had cleaned and unblocked the drain plug (underneath) I inserted a piece of flexible wire in the top and got out a tremendous amount of water and slush. Regular job I think until my new garage is built. I mean when I've built my new garage!!

I would look at moving your roof motor to it's rightful place in the boot. There are quite a few on here that provide the service now, where are you in the country ??

Number 5 (Alan) is in Bristol and Bowser is near Camberley and they both do motor relocates, it's well worth having it done, never have to worry about a drowned motoritchyfeet wrote:Just outside Salisbury in Wiltshire.
