I will put a 10mm spring spacer in the rear so the rear will come slightly higher. Makes it 30f 20r effectively

Broken rear spring!
Interesting. Never considered spacers. Is this a diy type thing or are there specific off the shelf products?

Pretty sure BMW sell some thicker 10mm rubber pads as opposed to the normal 5mm ones.

BMW offers indeed different sizes pads off the shelf. Somewhere between stock 5mm & 15mm if i remember correct.

Broken rear spring!
What is it about these cars why the springs are so susceptible to breaking? Why so? A BMW design error? Mine did too....

E46 (3 series) has the same. perhaps it's a design-thing? or a bad threatment at the spring-factory?

Broken rear spring!
I've just changed my rear M-Sport springs (one snapped, one on the way out) and could have sworn that they had three dabs of green paint, not blue... I've replaced them with Suplex springs (specifying the M-Sport replacements) and the ride height is the same. I'll check the old ones tonight.

Has anybody seen a definitive source document explaining the colour codes on BMW springs? Just as I found elsewhere on the web this thread has contradictory information

I had three blue dots on my si sport springs. I had them replaced by BMW (foolish I know) and the replacements didn't have any paint. They had a barcoded label with the part number which I verified as m sport springs.
