Help! Dead roof motor

Post by 85genius » Wed Aug 23, 2017 6:13 pm

Had the roof motor moved to the boot a year ago so it's not wet but just tried and its unlatching at the top but then just stays there no noise from the motor.

Any idea what I should be looking for

Check to see if one of the spade connectors has come off the bottom of the motor.

Just been and checked and the connections are solid. Actually tried opening it from the key whilst stood at the back of the car and it does make the motor noise albeit quieter (I think) than usual

Is it low on oil, or has the emergency bypass been knocked out?

Hmm not sure is the bypass on the motor? It's still engaging just seems quieter than when it worked and obviously isn't moving

Thanks Mike all fixed now!

Must have been having a retarded moment yesterday as I thought id checked everything but was lying in bed last night and it finally twigged what you meant by emergency bypass. Checked this morning and the red handle had gotten slightly twisted , was less than 1cm out of position but pushing it all back together and it works again :D

Help! Dead roof motor

No probs - When I relocate the motors now, I always unhook the release at the motor end to stop this happening! Can be put back on in a couple of seconds if needed.
