Checked it 2 month ago. DISA 1 and 2 are working fine.
Feels good to get this to know.
While I was looking for DISA, i noticed some bad gaskets between the air intake and the engine.
Replaced it, now he's still running good angain! :)

I just wanted to thank you again for this great instruction!!

Hi
Just recently purchased my 1st Z4 after owning E36 M3’s.
Gotta admit, I was hesitant, but, now confident.
It’s a great car and the forum is filled with great advice and guides.
Always appreciate the effort forum members make for other forum members and newbies like myself.
Found your detailed DISA inspection/replacement guide both informative and resssuring.
Thankyou for your effort, it’s appreciated

So, update as this thread is now 7 years old, and it would appear it’s well worth checking your DISA on an N52, both because of the post above, and this thread here :

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=113175&p=1632354#p1632354

It would appear there is a possibility of the rubber on the updated DISAs perishing, so if you get here and think ‘nah, I reckon it will be fine after reading this’ , then I’d suggest you have a look anyway :!:

Thunderous One, Like yourself I was a big fan of the E36 M3 having raced one for a number of years. Having to stop racing I wanted to get some fun from a road car. I wasn’t sure if the Z4 would deliver but it does. I have been round the track in it as well and was amazed how it performed (handling).
I have a roadster which I love but imagine the coupe would be even better for the track.
Have fun.

So I think this might be the issue I have.

2.5si N52 that makes a strange rushing, rattling noise at about 4000 revs when cold. It sounds like it's coming from the intake side of the engine and I am not convinced it's not down on power at low revs.

I think I will give it a strip down and see if the valve looks in good condition. Has anyone tried one of the rebuild kits? Seems a lot cheaper than replacing the unit, but it's a risk splitting the sealed unit of course.

What could possibly go wrong!

Hi Bing,
I would just like to add my thanks for your very informative and thorough guide for accessing the DISA valve. I haven't much to add really except I did manage to get the connecting manifold between the throttle body (?) and the sound box off without too much difficulty. The DISA valve itself wasn't in bad shape and I enen had a can of Wynne's carb cleaner as it happened to clean it up.

Also took the opportunity to give the air filter a clean:
