Tim, glad your enjoying your car,had m135i & M235i out for test drives & almost bought the 235 instead of the 35is but very happy with the zed at the moment apart from the calipers lol
Surprised you don't like the Michelin pss ! They are what i'am missing :( had them on my e86 & 335d made all the difference IMO will fit them once I've destroyed the rft's.

Hi Tim, I had it down to the 135i and the Z4 20i M-sport, the dealer arranged a test drive in both for me :) I found that the 135i was obviously way quicker to the 'would I lose my licence in this?' thoughts, it had loads more gadgets as standard, I loved the way you bring up all the dials showing what was going on! But it came down to the looks alone in the end...I found myself looking at the Z more. But still wondering if I'll be tempted to get the135i after I've had the Z4 for a while and got it out of my system, I think it's a car I've wanted for so long that I need to get one to say "I've done it" lol.
It was only by chance I went for the M135i as planned keeping the E89 Z4 and buying another small hatch to replace my Z3. As I was on a PCP with the Z4 so it made more sense to change that one and when my local dealer and BMW were doing an offer on the 135i it was a no brainer so just swapped the PCP over from the Z4 on the same monthly outgoing. For me it depends what offers come along that decides which model BMW I go for, theyre all decent drives so you can go far wrong, its just down to what looks float your boat.

Thanks alot. I may look at the M235i next time around as I much prefer the front end to the 1 Series but hoping with the 1 Series refresh it will adopt the 2 Series bumper and headlights. The Michelins are great don't get me wrong but just a very sticky compound which attracts stones and chippings a bit too much but its nothing major.

Shouldn't have to do this, but within a week of taking delivery, had wheels off car and painted and lacquered callipers and hubs. Regular cleaning with a pressure washer keeps them gleaming.
Callipers and hubs never age well but with modern minimal structure wheels things are so much more visible.
By far the worst I have seen are on my sister-in-law's five month old SLK. They look like something out of a scrapyard.
2014 Z4 2.0. (driven by her in doors cos she thinks she looks pretty in it).
Range Rover Evoque (toss up between one of these and an X4)
Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglia

I could paint them myself,as I usually do anyway but it's a matter of principal. Have sent a nice wee email of to BMW so will be interesting to see there reply. Just waiting on dealer getting back to me this week. Most people wouldn't notice the calipers, but I do & it's annoying me. Plus I have OCD when it comes to my cars. Showed the wife the other day & she just laughs :D

Just back from dealer regarding the calipers on my car. BMW stance on them is there is no cosmetic finish on the calipers only some protection. :headbang: not interested in warranty claim. Will take this further direct with BMW. Local dealer was embarrassed & are taking the car in the next few weeks to paint all the calipers at there cost. Can't say fairer than that.
On a better note getting a M4 for the day on Monday :D might see if the calipers are interchangeable :D

Believe me I have taken full advantage of BMW in ways you would not believe!! The alcantara on my seat trims went dark from the seat belts....BMW refunded me the option from new, ie £1800 and then also replaced the seat trim with a new one. And 3 new exhausts, one every year, due to the rattling baffle....

I am going to take a look at our calipers now. Our car is only 6 weeks old so fingers crossed. Never understood why the calipers aren't painted like the M135.

Checked the calipers yesterday and still look like new.
No contamination of any sorts yet!
