Advice on 19" tyres please
Can i get some advice from the collective please? I have a 23i msport manual e89 with aftermarket alloy wheels 8.5 front and 9.5 rear. I need to replace the rears and am thinking 265/30/19 (I have 255/30/19 atm). The question is about best performance vs cost vs wear. So i use this car as a daily driver but don't do that many miles. I've had cheap nankangs as they are nuclear tyres so last forever but general i find that they leak or have problems over time for other reasons and have had to replace usually after a year of use or so. So I am thinking about medium or even high budget tyres but am worried about forking out £200 a pop.
Is it worth the high cost? Will wear be too much with the softer compound rubber? I found falkens wore out so fast and weren't that much better grip. Are there any mid range tyres that have decent grip and decent wear that you would recommend? I know the car is worth thousands etc but im a cheap skate
I don't drive that fast anywhere anymore lol but I will be doing the odd roadtrip (fast road driving) and occasional track day. I need my car for work and so cant be faffing with leaking rubber ...
Here are some options from camskills. Any thoughts on the conti 6s?

Advice on 19" tyres please
a 265/30 is a nice comfortable tyre imo. the 255/35 is a little baloony & a 255/30 is too skinny , so the 265/30 looks right in comparison to a 225/35 or a 235/35/19 front IMO of course...
I run 265/30 nexen N8000, reasonable grip in wet weather n good wear.
a great mid range tyre is Vredstein Vori which offer excellent wet weather grip and good wear properites.
tyres are all very subjective and will get you a massive range of responses on here, however if your a tight wad then like me, the Nexens offer good value for money @ £75 quid a piece off camskill and dont have any issues with leaking etc ( i bought mine a year ago, Z4pilot ran the same tyres , then i bought the wheels back off him recently and have no issues)
HTH.

Advice on 19" tyres please
Hi, I've just put these on my zed-early days but they seem fine with more ride comfort than the runflats & good reviews online

great advice cheers fellas
Jamie thats interesting info on the baloony business. I was thinking the same. Also I was told that when the profile is too thin / tryes narrow and hard inflexible rubber you can leak air when cornering etc ...
are these the tyres you're referring to?

nexens good too ... hmmm ok thanks
yeah im not keen on forking out too much but i wanted to take the plunge and run decent tyres and see if they're worth it...

They're the ones mate. Like I say, tyres are very subjective, this forum especially is bad for shitting on someone else's recommendation. I personally have used nexens for years and had no issues.

I always run 255 35 19 on 9.5s , works for me on comfort , looks & wheel protection but others do prefer a "skinnier" lookTheivz wrote:Haha im almost there ... not yet thomr wilks wrote:Just for the record 255 35 19s on 9.5js " balloony" to under 30,s , extra ride comfort for the over 40,sjamie_z4 wrote:They're the ones mate. I think it was a joke dont worry mate i dont think anyone is shitting on your recommendation just offering different perspective. i have had great experiences with nankangs over the years to be honest and would definitely recommend its just that i run a stretch and also want to corner hard which doesnt help.. im sure nexens are the same. i think i may look into your suggestion of vredsteins ... either way all opinions are welcome so thanks to all that have posted so farjamie_z4 wrote:mr wilks wrote:Just for the record 255 35 19s on 9.5js " balloony" to under 30,s , extra ride comfort for the over 40,sjamie_z4 wrote:They're the ones mate.
