It's a good question
I've done around 600 miles now with bikes on the roof and there is absolutely no marks to the paintwork at all. it might help that I have a big black sticker on the roof!

It uses the fixing adaptors from a 1999 Impreza Saloon. It was the only car I've found that has no fixing points and frameless doors and a kit available.-Tom- wrote:Yes good point ... Wrapped roof? How does it fix? I didn't know there were any fixing points?
