Project Z - update pics page 3 road trip Spa and Ring
Hi all
my first z4 and i love it. Great driving position. I love the way you sit on the back axle and with the long nose you really feel like you are in the cockpit of a poper roadster!
First time i have done this all my self so pls be gentle. My projects tend to be very marmite and I'm a bit OTT with my mods generally . This is first phase. Stubby already fitted and debadged. Hand corrected paint a few weeks ago with poorboys blackhole and collinite wax. Got LCI repeaters to go on but struggled to find flat head long enough to reach into gap plus i want them painted first i think... so far:
Macht-schnell stud conversion kit
12mm spacers front and 15mm spacers rear
painted calipers and rusty hubs black
19" calibre gtr staggered rims powder coated cream
scrape courtesy of a neighbour on day 2 of ownership..
close up of rear rims and stud kit with extended bolts and matching locking nuts
Like I said a bit marmite ... hope you like. I do. Now need to work out suspension options once I have the deniros
These mods were all from my last car

Re: Project Z
Very impressive paint finish on the car, looks superb. Not sure about the cream wheels, they look good in the photos, probably on balance, on a black car, a positive yes vote.
Would I? Probably not but it's something different.

Re: Project Z
I shouldn't like it, but I do, something about it, such a contrast maybe is it. Paint looks really good, nice deep shine.

Re: Project Z
no worries. world would be a boring place if we all liked the same thing. more importantly my projects tend to be very "marmite" lollux wrote:If I'm being honest the cream rims don't work for me, sorry
more importantly i had another set of more suitable rims which were also a bit marmite but i sold em
BBS LMR style rims with red centres (would have matched red leather doh!). Apologies for shameless pic whoring
i think it will look better in 12 months once car is completed

Re: Project Z
cheers! washed clayed then hand corrected with poorboys (recommended by a detailing friend as has cutting and filling properties on a black car) and sealed with collinite. Thanks for positive commentekimj10 wrote:Very impressive paint finish on the car, looks superb. Re: Project Z
Cars looking good, like the calibre rims thinking of getting a set, you mention using 15mm spacers in the rear and 12mm in the front, assuming the standard offset of the rims are 35mm this would mean you are now at 20mm rear and 23mm front offset. I think once you lower the car you going have to adjust the rear spacer to avoid rubbing. Looking forward to your progress.

Re: Project Z
IMHO the e89 styling doesn't take to this kind of modification. Its not for me, I think it makes the car look like a toy and is something I'd expect to see on someone's Civic.

Re: Project Z
I'd have liked to see these on the zed!
I do like the calibre wheels just not keen on the cream colour. I think they would look loads better with the zed dropped like the tourer (which I'm guessing is on your list of to do's?)
Keep posting the pics up
