Wanted 17's
I've got mint condition 108's in 18's bar a small scuff on the front thanks to a moron taking up 1.5 lanes at a junction and me trying to squeeze past.
I find the ride is far too harsh and with all the potholes everywhere I'd much rather just go for 17's.
Ideally a mint set for around £300. If in need of a refurb would need to be worthwhile as 17's aren't really sought after.

Ah nee bother then
I'm in suffolk. Have some 103's with run flats on but have a fresh set of non run flats ready to go on. Need to refurb some 107's before I let the 103's go and all seems too much faff over a long distance. Good luck though

I'm not sure what suspension spec and tyres your Zed is on but RFT's, sport/lowered suspension and fitting polly bushes probably does more to stiffen the ride than wheel size.
When I swapped from RFT's to standard rubber on my 17's the ride improved dramatically, I've since gone to 18" 108's on standard tyres and didn't really feel any deterioration in the ride compared to the 17's.

Going from RFT's to normal tyres will bring big improvements. I also went to 17 inch and got a further improvement in the ride on my 3.0 with sport suspension. Personally I find the 17" wheels are more in proportion with the car and look better but I am probably in the minority. 19's look ridiculous !
I paid £90 for 4 very tired 103 alloys (I've always liked that design) and then £250 for a powder coat refurb and then 4 news tyres which I bought from Camskill and had them fitted for free by the guys doing the refurb. Then sold the 108's which covered a big chunk of the cost.

well i've went from 17's to 18's on a different car and the difference was huge. night and day. so i'm thinking of dropping back to 17's on it and also switching to 17's on the z4. i don't really get the fascination with big rims. nobody can see them when the car is moving anyway. only if it's a show car would i bother.Ewazix wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2017 5:14 pm I'm not sure what suspension spec and tyres your Zed is on but RFT's, sport/lowered suspension and fitting polly bushes probably does more to stiffen the ride than wheel size.

I can only report what I found comparing wheels on my Z4, all cars and set-ups respond differently. For example I've just fitted rear swing arm polly-bushes on my Subaru it feels like a mistake as it's introduced crashy'ness that wasn't there before but on other cars I've had you couldn't really tell the difference.SonnyA85 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2017 3:56 pmwell i've went from 17's to 18's on a different car and the difference was huge. night and day. so i'm thinking of dropping back to 17's on it and also switching to 17's on the z4. i don't really get the fascination with big rims. nobody can see them when the car is moving anyway. only if it's a show car would i bother.Ewazix wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2017 5:14 pm I'm not sure what suspension spec and tyres your Zed is on but RFT's, sport/lowered suspension and fitting polly bushes probably does more to stiffen the ride than wheel size.

It' worth checking your suspension spec and bushes and seeing if you can borrow some wheels for the Z4 to try before splashing out.

If I was running 108s or mv2s I'd be on 215 45 or 225 45 fronts / 245 40 rears / perfect fit ,better comfort & less arch gap & with the above I really doubt you would notice any difference from running your car on 17s & whatever anyone says the look is always going to suffer with smaller wheels
