Nope, he uses various other things but only TWS in the M's.

He means TWS/Edge FST are the same thing, which they are (according to Castrol). Though the new consumer Castrol stuff has 'supercar' on it as well, it's the same just a rebrand. Nothing catastrophic going on with any of those though there are arguably better oils now in any case
Z4MR - Gruppe M, Bilstein PSS10, CSL's + 18" CSL reps with semi's, RTAB Limiters, Powerflex’d, PF Camber Arms, K-Sport BBK / RSL-29, GC Camber Plates, Strut Brace, Exhaust valves, custom brake cooling, complete underside refresh!

Still not sure I'd be able to sleep at night, until I had a fresh oil change. But then I don't know the garage. If you trust that it was a typo then I'm glad it's sorted.

honestly for the sake of knowing for sure, id just suck it out the dip stick tube with an oil extractor and replace it, will literally take you 15 mins..... i really wouldn't trust anyone unfortunately , I've found out that the hardway, even the best will cut corners when and where they can even if it means lying to your face......
im not saying driving gently keeping the revs low it will hurt it however, i think thats a-bit far even if it wasn't the correct oil, but for your own piece of mind.... change it.

Interesting. Last time I did an oil change on a sunny day I could see he fluorescence just from the UV from the sun. It's a bright yellow/green (almost like a cartoon radioactive glow!). I did my inspection 2 oil change on the weekend and the weather was quite overcast so I wasn't able to notice the fluorescence.Rene_Z4MC wrote: ↑Thu Oct 05, 2017 9:26 am The datasheet does indeed state it has 'signature fluorescent colour' but I was not able to observe any 'glowing' when putting it in UV light (tanning lamp), however my own fresh bottle of Castrol 10W60 also didn't show any glowing so I'm not sure if that is really a feature.

Castrol Edge 10W60 is the low grade stuff for normal engines.AndyBeech wrote: ↑Thu Oct 05, 2017 4:22 pmHe means TWS/Edge FST are the same thing, which they are (according to Castrol). Castrol Edge Professional 10W60 is the replacement for BMW TWS and is used in several high performance engines.

The professional brand doesn't exist anymore, not for the consumer at least (in the UK, AUS might be different). The 'Edge FST Titanium Supercar' brand with the black label is the replacement and is the same, just to be clear. BMW / M approved etc.Mangozac wrote: ↑Thu Oct 05, 2017 9:41 pmCastrol Edge 10W60 is the low grade stuff for normal engines.AndyBeech wrote: ↑Thu Oct 05, 2017 4:22 pmHe means TWS/Edge FST are the same thing, which they are (according to Castrol). I was asking this question a while ago about the Motul 10w-60 that my indy promptly recommended and filled in.
If there’s a difference between Castrol 10w-60 & Castrol TWS 10w-60 one might wonder if Motul is any good for the S54. (Especially since I got this slight knock/rattle at idle lately)

My mechanic (the same one ) uses Motul in all the other cars he does but only the TWS in the M's ... I haven't seen the newer product yet, we are isolated on the Far left of North America so change and new stuff comes slowly.Argenta wrote: ↑Thu Oct 05, 2017 11:45 pm I was asking this question a while ago about the Motul 10w-60 that my indy promptly recommended and filled in.

I agree with Beedub here, I just couldn't leave it in, it'd worry me too much. Change it, for the piece of mind it's gotta be worth it.Beedub wrote: ↑Thu Oct 05, 2017 6:22 pm honestly for the sake of knowing for sure, id just suck it out the dip stick tube with an oil extractor and replace it, will literally take you 15 mins..... i really wouldn't trust anyone unfortunately , I've found out that the hardware, even the best will cut corners when and where they can even if it means lying to your face......

I don't believe the professional stuff was ever available retail here either. You have to get it either from BMW ($$$) or from a couple of online specialist suppliers selling 20L drums (which works out cheaper than high end retail oils anyway).

For the sake of 140 quid for edge professional, suck it out. You will be crying when it blows up. Not worth it
