I wouldn't let it put you off I love my ///M but we are all passionate about these cars and sometimes it seems we argue a lot but that's what happens when you are passionate. Just find the best one you can and you will love it and then be as bad as the rest of us.

Each time there is Ins1 or Ins2 the cam cover gasket should be replaced so maybe the seller has seen on paperwork a cost for that

Has this one come up recently?
Seems cheap to me! Looks a tad unloved.. but only 2 former keepers so it's not swapped hands loads over the years. Higher mileage than all other M's on the market but would this drag the price down this much?
What do we think?
I'm tempted!

If all the maintenance has been and done and it's in fair nick then at £9k why not...?! It's probably worth close to that if you were breaking it for parts...
BMW's do seem to be very mileage sensitive when compared to the Porsches of similar miles, but if you're planning on doing under 5k miles a year this seems a good enough buy.

I guess my initial thoughts were buy it, tart it up and get it looking it's best, drive it for a couple of months then look to resale it for a small profit. Obviously if they are milage sensitive then i'd have to not keep it for too long... and try not to fall in love!

I considered that one very seriously as as long as its had oil changes etc it needn't necessarily have any issues. The offputting thing is moving it on, imo you can tart it up all you want but it'll still have the mileage and as it's proving it's being very hard to shift, it's been up for at least 8 months if not more. The dealer won't lower it to private sale price, he'll just sit on it until somebody gives in and buys it which to my mind you would have to be looking long term ownership, enjoy it for a good few years, then move it on and take the expected hit. Just imo though obviously.

I agree! I doubt it's a bad car as such it simply is so high mileage that it will put any potential buyers as you can see by the current struggle to sell it.john-e89 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2017 11:40 am I considered that one very seriously as as long as its had oil changes etc it needn't necessarily have any issues. in the future say you add 15-20k if you do 5k or so a year and try to sell it? will you want to keep it for 8 months while selling? doubt it.

Buying from a dealer and then looking to sell it to get a profit from a private sale seems a tad optimistic.
Buy it, drive it, enjoy it....and it'll probably be worth close to what you bought it for come sale time. Not many cars can offer that!

It's definitely the mileage that is the issue then. I would have been optimistic of making a small profit given current market values for these, although i do realise that what car's are advertised for and what they actually sell for are two very different things. Wouldn't be such a bad thing to buy it, enjoy it and break even on price though. I only do 4k miles a year at most also.
Might keep an eye on it, but if it's been around for 8 months and not sold he is most likely just sitting on it, waiting for someone to come along rather than reducing the price, as John pointed out.

How much do you want to pay for one..£7k....£5k...? You might be waiting a long time to find another one at such a low price.
