So how do you get away quick ?

Post by mr wilks » Sun Apr 26, 2015 7:42 pm

Bearing in mind a written down figure of 0-60 in 5 seconds just htf is this achieved without ragging the clutch, box & tyres :?
My V6 TT DSG was away 0-40 so much quicker & without any fuss
Best comparison i can find is a staggered set of lights close to home , each green light lets you into the next zone but not quite through before the following set hits red , but  i have done it in the TT on amber without the sport button or launch control .
I'm growing to like the bond between driver & car via the gearstick but can't help thinking some form of auto in the ZM would have made it feel super rapid off the mark

I *think* the trick is not to try and dump the clutch in first, or sit with high revs and drop it in. The CDV may slow that sort of start down and definitely results in kangarooing... But you do have to grab it by the scruff of the neck. As Perry pointed out to me on the way to Wales when I lightly toasted my clutch, there's enough torque that once it's moving you can floor it, and whilst the tyres will briefly light up through 1st and 2nd and the TC light will do the disco thang, the LSD will keep you going straight. In the dry at least, with the DSC left on. DSC off I think you'll get a lot of tyre smoke first...

I have to confess I've not deliberately practiced, with or without DSC, on a quiet road - there will be others with better advice I'm sure, which I am looking forward to hearing. then I'll go practice sometime soon :driving:

Don't get me wrong , i'm not trying to turn the lights at Sainsbury's into Santa Pod but i'm guessing the figures for the ZM were achieved with a whole load of noise & smell of burning clutch & rubber :P

DSC off, otherwise it tries to cut in when you get that initial bit of spin before it bites and launches you into the horizon.

This is probably my mistake - trust the LSD, yes ?

Why thanks you sir....

As said DSC OFF............. It can be pretty intrusive, although mechanical grip is very good..

Do a throttle adaptation reset..... It may have been tickled about for a while...

Maybe the MAF sensor needs a clean up ?

You can have an intermittent stage as per the CSL (it's the same as M Track mode). Simon from here recoded the settings for me, so now I have 3 DSC settings.

I think that the secret is to not rush. Get it into 2nd fairly early and then let it go.
