Anyone know the best place to buy a front caliper?

Mine has all but seized and and need to call round for some prices. Just thought I'd check on the forum first.

Thanks

Not used them myself, as mine was replaced under warranty, but these seem to have a few options from about £70 (add £30 if you're not giving a them your old one).

Hi Stuart.
whereabouts are you?
I use Mizzy for really good secondhand z4 parts for my business. Including calipers.

If the Caliper is still in good condition you could always get a repair kit which includes a replacement piston. The chances are that the Chrome piston is badly corroded causing it to seize in the caliper. The kits would come with a piston, piston oil seal and rubber boot as well as a bleed screw rubber cap for both sides. The opposite side is probably in the same condition so it would be best to do it as well.

Are you sure your caliper is seized?

How worn out are your pads? I had a front caliper binding last week, turns out that the sliders had a bit of brake deposit at the ends and because the pad was around 70% worn it started to reach that area of the sliders were the deposits were.

Disassembled the caliper, cleaned the pins, greased them, installed new pads and problem was resolved.

Check this before buying a new caliper. Alternatevely you can refurb yours for 45 quid.
