Post by grizzle245 » Thu Nov 06, 2014 1:14 pm

hi guys

after charging my battery out of the car the passannger door wont open from the inside or outside handle. really strange the lock pin goes up and down when you unlock/lock it, any ideas or is the car in some sort of delivery mode?

Its not just really tight is it? I used to have an Audi which you really had to tug on the door to open it as the cabin was so well enclosed it would form some sort of internal vacuum and suck the door shut.

Daft i know, but could be worth a shot...

Put the window up and down fully. This works on my drivers side window which doesn't open from time to time.

No none of this worked, I talked to bmw and you have to brake it open by taking out the door card from the inside, oh great, another reason not to give lifts :)

Sounds like a good way to make a mess of your door card :(

Does your roof work? Just try my method with the roof down. I know it sounds odd but try it before you tear your door card.

You could maybe call a breakdown recovery specialist - they will probably have experience of 'breaking into' cars? Just a thought.

managed to fix this, the cable for the exterior door handle was corroded and preventing the latch from resetting resulting in the door being dead locked... so the solution for this is pull the door cad off the left side, you wont get it off as the dash is in the way, remove the airbag unit, keep the window open, now put your had inside the door and on the back of the latch release the cable for the exterior door handle... door will open.
