Roadster prices
I'm still hunting a 3.0 manual softtop for 4K so have been keeping an eye on prices.
Everyone seems to value their cars at £4500+ but looking at completed listings on eBay etc they don't seem to be selling. Obviously a lot are sold "off" eBay but still seems true.
Also ads in other places seem to be around for ages too.
Are people overpricing or am I missing something?
I'm still not in a rush but at the same time want one yesterday Definately going to hang on for the right car, spec etc I think though.
Looking at cars with 100k plus they seem to hang around even longer, is it considered high mileage for these cars?
Or am I just missing the big picture and being a tight Yorkshire man

Hi, you're being tight as these were £30k+ when new & £4.5k for a used one is ridiculous value for money
100k mikes is no big deal for a 3 litre if it's been looked after, some people still harbour suspicions the engine will fall out due to experiences with other cars or what their mates down the pub told them
Get your money out & buy one before the summer starts proper

I don't understand the budget doesn't fit what I want argument. If you want any car and the budget for a good one is higher, then I guess something has to give. As you are talking a small difference why not look at what the extra cost gets you. I bet it is a big improvement in car. For example the car at £5,000 fully sorted probably represents better value than a poor £4,000 one that immediately needs work to get it to where you would want it. There have been some fantastic cars sold on here throughout the winter but you now approach the worst to buy a roadster. Still got possibly two months before they really peak best of luck in finding what you want.

£sums it up nicely
Check the cost of tyres, an Insp1/2, pads, discs a wheel refurb or other routine items and a 'cheap' car isn't cheap at all. A seller that's done all the work will never get back more than a small percentage of their outlay. Get your wad out

If so the maths. A forum car will probably be looked after and possibly have extra such as gap tech, ZHP, Royal wheel, lollipops updated, better wheels of at least 18s . Service done gearbox and diff oil done, other possible faults such as DISA, etc sorted, do you will have upgrades and peace of mind. Got to be worth paying the extra.

Cheers for the replies Didn't mean it as a "budget doesn't fit what I want argument ", was just more of an observation
If my perfect specced car came up I would definately break the budget as indeed it would make sense financially agreed

Add to that a forum (or not) pre facelift car with M Sport Seats & Steering Wheel or clear headlights is worth paying a bit of a premium for, although I am biased!Zoomer wrote: ↑Sun Apr 23, 2017 8:57 am If so the maths. I always try and buy off an enthusiast that knows his stuff. A loved car is always worth paying extra for!

Prices are only in to creep up with the summer coming. List your must haves and nice to have specs. Some of these don't have to be deal breakers.
One of my musts was not black sport seats, I got them but with the age of cars now you could happily consider a retrim and recolour of everything else stacked up.
Cruise is a cheap retrofit so don't let that be a deal breaker. HIDs can be put in vice Xenon's etc.

Is there a massive difference between the standard seats and the sports seats?

I mean from a sitting in point of view. If I bought a car without them are they an easy upgrade later if necessary?

As mentioned above, the sports seats sell for a fortune-makes much more sense to buy a car with them already fitted instead of remortgaging for them later
