Ram Air Scoops - more ready 13/9/17
Following a few messages, I've finally had time to make some more of these. Rather than start a group style post, I thought a for sale thread would be easier.
The scoops are cut and welded so will be off to the powder coater tomorrow, so should be ready in a week or so. £35 delivered as previously.
A link below with explanations on what these are and also some photos.

All the previous ones were also black. Some sprayed them a different colour. The best results seemed to be using plastikote.
I'm going to spray mine red when they're ready, will post some photos up once I have.

Do the ram air scoops add anything in respect to engine performance or are they solely aesthetically pleasing?

Good question and I can only go by what RPI say on their website:
"The RPI ram air system captures incoming air from behind the front kidney grill and forces it into the factory intake ducting. The pressured cold air increases engine performance and efficiency. Expect 8-12whp at 70mph winds."
Here's a link to their website if you want to have a look: http://www.raceprecision.com/product/RPI-I1004.html

Things like this are always subjective, but I want one to channel as much air to my cone filter as possible. Plus it's bling. We all need bling.

There's a "how to" on the RPI website link above. It looks straightforward but I admit I haven't fitted one myself

For those that are asking about fitting: it's easy BUT... you need a long (300mm ish ) screwdriver and a stubby screwdriver. I didn't have the stubby and had to go to screwfix. Not just for the ///M - on realoem the intake ducting to the filter housing is the same for at least the SI variants, I didn't check pre facelifts as I don't have one.
Pull off right kidney, usual drill... grab the slats push up wards and pull the bottoms out. You will see the original scoop that uses plastic plugs, 3 of. Pull these out with grips and keep scoop for future sale etc. The oem scoop clearly isn't designed to catch as much air as possible.
I acquired dans scoop through another member and emailed RPI about screw sizes - 3x nickel plated 1"x8 self tappers. Hold the scoop up inside the bumper, and screw away into the plastic, same plastic the original was held on to. You can't go wrong as you can see the ducting and how the scoop will direct it. Stubby on the two screws that are aiming towards the rear of the car and the longun on the screw aiming parallel to the radiator.
I don't see a difference in performance - yet to try it out in the motorway and I think it is likely to show its colours here as it is designed to be effective once up to speed. It does look awesome on the look back though
