I paid £400 for warranty last year and only claim was about as much as my excess.
Renewal is due so I m tempted this year to save the money?
Any thoughts?

If you're disciplined then put the premiums into a toffee tin every month for the 'event' that might or might not happen !
If you're not - pay the premium.
I would say that the insurance is a gamble and they know the odds better than we do.

You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

My X3 was perfect for all three years of the main warranty. I paid for the BMW extended warranty going into the fourth year and am VERY pleased I did.
The only fault so far was in the Satnav screen. A £2,000 plus labour item that only cost me the £250 XS (and the premium).
That said, I have paid around £1000/year for my Mercedes extended warranty for six years and never called it into action.
As "ronk" says, it's all a gamble. It's one I'm happy to buy my way out of though as fixed costs are better than a heavy hit (or two).

I'm paying to ensure I don't get a hefty bill, not the small claims that you mention. If you can afford the cost of an expensive repair, then don't buy the insurance!

I think if you have an auto or DCT box then warranty good idea, otherwise take a chance.
