Glad you came out this ,looks and sounds like the z took some hit,but as said,it took it well given the speeds, and size of the car, front ends large proportion(in respect of its nearly 1/3 of the cars length), probably helped.
Had a 4x4 hit my ,then ,as new Seat Leon Choral years ago,and it looked very similar, with the crumple zones in the roof twist in a bit also.,....mine was only 6months old at he time,so I know how you felt, with the car being in such good condition and your p&j.
Glad you survived

That must have been a hell of a blow.
You're very lucky not to be hurt. Too bad the young girl got injured seriously.
Sets you thinking about other drivers.

Wow that’s a lot of twisted metal, did you even get a glimpse of it coming at any point? Sad to see such a nice car like that! You were unlucky to have been there in the first place just a few seconds either way and it’s a miss, but very lucky not to have been hurt at all must have been a hell of a shock!
Hope your on the mend now as well!

The Fiat and the Z4 have remarkably similar patterns of damage. You were both very lucky I would say, particularly with the Fiat as there were not as many safety features back then - if any!
I was told that a modern drop top can often withstand a bigger impact than it's tin top equivalent as the shell is so much stronger with all the reinforcing needed. They tend to be heavier as well.

Just think if you had the M at the time, you would have been further ahead and it might have been worse
Joking apart - not a good experience at all. Nor are your additional ailments I was just reading up on.

The irony is Paul had I been doing the speed limit, 60 on that stretch of road, instead of dawdling along at 50 as I was, I’d have been well past the junction when Thelma and Louise decided to ignore basic road laws and stop signs, so the moral of the story is; if you don’t want a nasty accident, drive like a nutter..!!
