I remember in the mid 80s I really wanted one these in the blue and drove a friend's terrifying myself along the A5, alas it wasn't insurance friendly and couldnt afford it.
The price I would say isn't too bad considering overall condition and if it is a minter. I would want the mileage lower though.
A neighbour has a mint 95 Escort Cosworth with 24 k on the clock and they're now fetching mid to high 20s.

A mint 24k Escose will be in the mid to high 50’s or 60’s. In the nineties you couldn’t give them away as they were THE twoc’rs choice to nick. Now they’re so collectible, the price of them has easily doubled, there’s a 2k miler up for just shy of 80k. Clean RS anything has gone mad, 15k mile mk 4 RS turbo’s are asking anything from mid 20’s to 40k for a concours example. They were approx 11k new.

The Escort Cos, or ACE, as it was code named pre-production, are all 4x4 RS Tim. They’re based on a cut and shortened 4x4 Sapphire floor pan homologated for production purely so that Ford had the next WRC car. It’s a unique car, pretty much hand built. The early cars used big laggy T3 turbo with water injection for WRC, and early road cars had the water bag and pipe work in the boot, a very rare thing to have nowadays. They changed the turbo around 1995 for a smaller less laggy T25, it didn’t give as much ultimate boost but was a far better road car as the blower spooled up a lot faster, cutting some of the lag. 10-15 years ago the early ‘92 onwards cars were the ones to have, as purists didn’t like the smaller turbo, but now it makes little difference, most cars have been ragged, nicked, welded back together, modified to destruction, so a low mile in-molested minter commands big big money. I’m sure your neighbour will know this, but if not, tell him I’ll have it off him for 25k and there’s a monkey in your hand cash for your trouble......TitanTim wrote: ↑Sat Nov 04, 2017 2:59 pmMy neighbours is the 4x4 Cosworth with the whale tail on the rear in imperial blue, when I looked last year they were fetching around the late 20s but your right I've just had a look on Pistonheads and keeled over Were they all RS versions, I don't know if his is or not or has the lux pack but if it is then it must be nudging 50k. Thanks John I think he bought the Escort in 96 from and old chap who only had it for a year from new but must have racked up some mileage at the time as I'm sure he said it had low 20s on the clock, however since 96 when he bought it, he's kept it garaged so the mileage is still in the 20s, in fact I've only ever seen it out on the road a couple of times in 20 years. It does look pretty much mint so must be worth a fair bit. I think he's just kept it as an unused investment perhaps realising in 96 that 20 years later it might be worth a few pennies.john-e89 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 04, 2017 5:24 pmThe Escort Cos, or ACE, as it was code named pre-production, are all 4x4 RS Tim. No one see the RS500 sold a month ago with 6k on the clocks.... went for £115k! f***ing nuts.
I had the chance to buy an escort cossie in 2006 for 12k.. in dark red which was very rare. How I kick myself over not buying it.
