As Rob says, I got it done in the end. I had full service history but not with BMW and that was acceptable. The issue I had was the warranty department said the roof of an E89 wasn’t covered as it wasn’t a fixed panal The dealer I took it too took that as black and white and wouldn’t fight my corner and no matter how much I through at BMW they weren’t changing there mind! I then took it to another dealer and told them the story and they agreed with me, a few days later I had the warranty claim accepted and a great job done by Specialist Cars and their in house body shop in Hitchen
That dealer really wasn’t thinking. If only fixed panels were covered the bonnet, boot and doors would all be excluded.Pastry wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2017 7:22 pmAs Rob says, I got it done in the end. I had that conversation with BMW GB Steve and they wouldn't expand on it, just kept repeating "the roof panels are excluded " and it isn't in writing anywhere... why is it excluded? because BMW say sosrhutch wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2017 9:47 pmThat dealer really wasn’t thinking. Well that all sounds a bit ridiculous, how annoying. I don't have my service book to hand but my understanding is that the 'body inspection' (whatever the hell that is) is listed as a part of an inspection I or II service. Ergo if you have an inspection I or II stamps in the book this will (probably not ) have been done. What additional proof can you provide them? They want a video from 3 years ago of the service or something? It's ridiculous.Kernow-Z4 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 23, 2017 12:11 pm Well, after what seems like an age i just recived a response form my local Bmw Dealer;
"They have said that your car has not been seen in the BMW network for 8 years.
They are asking for invoices or proof that the Vehicle body check reports have been carried out at the correct service intervals
If you can drop these in and have a chat with andy he will go back to BMW again"
The issue is not even the Bmw service invoices i have, state bodywork checks have been carried out.
Has anyone had a simlar issue and managed to get around it?
Sounds like we are in the same position! I am being asked for proof of corrosion checks, I have a fully stamped service book and the receipts from my services, but no mention of the corrosion check.Kernow-Z4 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 23, 2017 12:11 pm Well, after what seems like an age i just recived a response form my local Bmw Dealer;

I'm so happy to live in a country that doesn't need to salt roads in winter! I do live near the beach thoughdannytheduck1985 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 28, 2017 9:33 pm These are old cars now. A couple of hundred quid in a bodyshop every 12-18 months is expected with old cars. Bad times if you live by the coast, befriend a bodyshop owner quick.
We salt the roads for a few months a year, you got salt in the air 12 months of the yearMangozac wrote: ↑Tue Nov 28, 2017 10:27 pmI'm so happy to live in a country that doesn't need to salt roads in winter! They should still honour the 12 year anti-corrosion warranty though.dannytheduck1985 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 28, 2017 9:33 pm These are old cars now. A couple of hundred quid in a bodyshop every 12-18 months is expected with old cars. Bad times if you live by the coast, befriend a bodyshop owner quick.
