Been offered a ride in a 23 S drive next week

Post by Adam D » Sat Apr 25, 2009 12:07 pm

Local dealer expects the demo car to arrive then and may be able to sneak it out, also agrees they are gunning for the SLK audience with this new model with improved build quality.

Will be good to see how it is in the metal so to speak, anyone else going to the open weekend's 9th/10th?

Got my invitation to the launch yesterday with the details of the open day - may pop along, though I have nothing spare for an upgrade at the mo :D

I will be waiting outside the showroom before it is open on the 9th. :) Got invitation from my local dealer yesterday. Buy new Z4 on 9th/10th and get Service Inclusive for 5 years (worth £885) for free.

I think those considering the new Z4 would be happier with a 3.4 boxster S 2nd hand and a good warantee if they are a driver, or 2nd hand SLK AMG 55 if they prefer comfort and style, its a bit of a odd compromise but willing to be proven wrong  I never buy new, its a mugs game as you lose so much in depreciation.

I priced up a 35 s-drive to match my current spec, £48,000 give of take a bit - the 3.0 was invoiced at 36k so thats a heck of a price increase and close to M3 money. I can't imagine the £885 servicing is all inclusive, it will probably only apply to the first owner and they know the sort of people who buy these cars change them often so won't have to honour it by the time the expensive inspection 2 service comes around.

The service on new Z4 will be Computer-Based Service, like current use on E60/E90. Each component has remaining mileage due for next service, e.g. brake pads, oil, micro-filter.

I don't think many people will buy brand new Z4 this year because of the recession, especially cars with decent specifications will be well over £35k. I'm not sure if used Z4 in 2 years time will be below £20k mark.

The service package is with the car not the owner so is transferable. Same as they did on the 320 diesels a few years ago, worth it if you do the miles and get through pads and discs like I did but the mileage I do now wouldnt cost me that in 5 years I doubt, Oil Service and Inpection 1 only is all I owuld get through.

Notice in the brochure two inclusive services are available the offer "Service Inclusive" and "Service Inclusive Plus", the Plus one including Brake pads/discs and wipers. So the offer appears to be for the first so no brake pads/discs. :(

Free :D
£885
