Bottom Plastic and Metal Skid Plates
I'm a total newbie to the Forum and to my 2005 BMW Z4 E85 3L roadster. It's got 89000 miles and seven owners who were not old grannies. I have been repairing bottom broken plastic skid plates but some seem to be missing including the small cover (6 in X 6 in or so) for the oil change. I need a service manual. How can I get a service manual? How many bottom plastic/metal skid plates should be down there anyway?

Skid plates seems to be incorrect - covers.
Any help with a service manual?

Have a look at Realoem.com to find the part numbers and name/description of the parts you're after. Might make it easier to find someone with what you need (and you can plug the part number into ebay/amazon etc to see if they're available to purchase as well).
Best of luck.

Haynes do a combined manual for the E46 and E85.

They are more aerodynamic than skid protection... but the oil plug access panel is actually rubber and I'm thinking of replacing it with a home made aluminium plate as it hangs down which is not very good.

Here's a link to the parts manual - you'll need to do a bit of a search for your car as I had it open on the page for my Z4M

Thanks Chris_D for the Haynes suggestion. Also thanks to andyF1140. I did not know that the oil plug access panel was rubber since it was missing but I had done ahead and made a cover from 3/16" stiff plastic. Seems to be fine.
Was there a cover (plastic?) to the rear of the metal engine cover (the one with the oil plug access panel) since it has three screw sockets on its rear side? I'm not what it would cover but it could be aerodynamic in nature. I checked realoem.com/bmw. Thanks.
