While I was and am in love with the sound from these I am less impressed with the brackets provided. This is what mine looked like after a year or so

Definitely not, those were the brackets/sleeves supplied with the box by DLV, I fitted the exhaust myself but after the above happened I took it to a local fabricator and had them weld on stainless steel connecting pipes at a cost of £40

I think £300 is a tad expensive for just gutting the err insulation stuffing (whatever it actually is!)

I'd have to agree. I took my backbox to a couple of polish guys (after hours), cost £120 pound to gut the original backbox. Good enough for me.

To be fair there's some new pipework involved aswell but that said there's no more than £50 of materials including brackets and I totally agree you can get it done far far cheaper than £300. Most exhaust places in my neck of the woods will do you an entire pefcormance back box for £200 or so.

Im sure your right, but the huge elephant in the room here.. What do they sound like? Nobody ever posts a video of what they sound like, and if they sound like s**t - there is no point whatsoever. Everyone know what a dlv box sounds like.
If you ever think I'm off my rocker.. Just put me back in it and walk away... It's the kindest thing

Bit of a late thread revival :D
Well what more can I say than I'm happy enough with mine and it was done elsewhere for a good £100+ less. I've heard both in person too.
The vids never tend to do these things justice anyway. I've only ever heard one or two that would have actually convinced me to want to do this mod without having actually heard them in person. That's listening through a fairly decent surround sound setup to. The phones etc they we all tend to use for vids just dont do them justice.
You've also got to remember dlv just copied what others have been doing for years. There's threads on here about doing this yourself or having someone else do it for you that predate anything he did by a good few years. To be honest its a fairly simple task for anyone who can weld stainless steel, especially if you use the flexible pipe employed here. Personally I prefer to use the solid piping for a number of reasons, not least because it allows you to tweak the sound/volume to your own liking by opening up the box and drilling holes/cutting slots to make it louder or welding them up to go the other way. Trial and error, but nice to be able to play around with it. This is something I've done with mine since I had it modded with a friend doing the welding. I wouldn't be keen at all to do the same with the flexible tubing.
In hindsight if I was doing it again I would probably just get the materials and have my mate do it for me. Something he made the point of "this is straight forward" when we opened it up the first time to tweak it. You really would have to be inept to screw it up if you've got the welding/cutting skills, the actual process is simple enough.

noted, but the elephant remains, im sure everything you say is correct, but unless you take the trouble to prove your statements people will continue to knock on Mikes door, and of course mike wasnt the first, but he may have been the first to take the trouble to put out a video  btw, i dont have any flexypipe on mine , but then again mike didnt fit it.
and its fair to assume not everyone has a got a mate who will knock one up for you either. but if you want to share your mate... 8)

I think you did miss my point with the flexy pipe. Its not used on the outside, the stainless flexy is what mike uses to do the pipework on the inside of his backbox's. Its not what I'd recommend I rather it was done with some properly cut/bent solid pipework. But the flexy stuff does make it quicker and much easier to do the job, so you can see the attraction. I just wouldn't expect it to last as well and I certainly wouldn't want to be drill/cutting into it to tweak the noise/sound out of the box.

That said I do agree your point of how it became the fashion on here to mod a backbox and to use him to do it. Nice lucrative little earner for him and folks on here had the piece of mind of someone that was recommended/trustworthy. But in light of the events of the last twelve months he's done a good job of destroying that. The real issue now is how can you still trust him. Especially in a money up front/mail order situation.
