Air Conditioning Question

Post by Veruca » Tue Sep 11, 2007 12:09 am

This has happened twice now. The car sits out in the heat for a little while and then when I get in and crank up the air will only blow (loudly) through the windshield vents. This will go on for about 2 minutes while I turn every dial and attempt every setting to try to get it to blow through the main vents. Is this normal? Is it some genius thing that BMW has designed that I will appreciate after I know what it is?

I would occassionally have this problem with my previous 2003 Zed but so far not with my 2006. The problem seemed to always correct itself after a min or maybe 2 so was never really too concerned about it.

I have had 2 Z4M's and neither had this problem. I always have my a/c on and is in the 'auto' mode.
The Z4M Roaster & Croup are gone!
It's E92 M3 from now on.

I always have it on auto too. I like all the dials pointing up. (crazy!) If it isn't a problem then i'm fine. Thanks for all the input. This forum wins the "lots of quick responses award!" LOL :)

That is normal in Auto mode. Most heat is transferred into the car from the windshield, so that tends to get cooled first, and also avoids fogging up
