Yesterday on the road with the Z4. Convertible hood down and after a visit to the garden center I wanted to open the hood again. Went a little bit then the procedure stopped.
Convertible top wouldn't close or open anymore.
Then closed the windows and again operated the button off the hood and then it opened. Odd.

Hood problem
Out of order sequence of execution from each involved module. Basically, the predefined roof operation order are not followed so that the roof control module is waiting for other module's response before doing next step but the other module either has already sent the response but ignored by the roof controller or hasn't received the request from the roof control module due to communication error.

I've heard this before.
That ,,, IF ,, the roof stops operating mid cycle, to then open/close the windows then try the roof again..
Im sure somebody else had the same problem not that long ago...

Hood problem
This happened to us yesterday. I think due to the heat (it had been sat in the sun all day) the passenger side window stuck briefly on it's way down, then the roof stopped just after it had unlatched.
After much trying different things I simply lowered both windows using the window switches and hey presto the roof opened without issue. It has been fine today.

Sometimes you don't know why things are happening.
