Bicycle in the boot

So I was curious as to whether I could fit my bike in the boot and the answer is a yes but not easily.

For me I had to remove both wheels, the seat, the left pedal and the handle bars. I think I could get that down to less than 10 minutes worth of work quite easily and if I was going somewhere for a few days and I wanted to take my bike it's good to know I could do it. Luggage would have to go in the cabin, passenger side.

I also delicately put the wheels in just to show they fit but if I was going to go anywhere they would definitely be in a proper bike wheel bag.

For reference the bike is a Specialized Roubaix size 58 which is a large size in terms of general bike sizes. Smaller bikes might go in without needing to take off the handle bars. Initially I tried putting the bike in the other way round, with handlebars going in last but it didn't fit, turning it round as per the pics was fine though.

Maybe of interest to others who were curious about the possibility of doing this.

Must admit, in my head I thought the boot on a G29 would have been deeper (even though I’ve never actually seen one in person)

inkey$, boot space is quite impressive for a two seater convertible @ 271 litres, there’s a decent opening and enough space for a weeks walking holiday.

Thats impressive, sars. The width of the apeture I’m sure really helps with things.
And a well timed post. even though I’m e85 not g29, i’m off on a camping trip this weekend, so will be testing the 240 litre storage limited of my car in similar fashion.

not a road bike but a track bike and wheels

this does not work with a Z4M as the battery in in the boot

sars - done and with space to spare. 3 man tent, table, chair, Trangia, clothes, and all other stuff is in. Room remaining for cold beer and breakfast shop tomorrow afternoon.

I'm on a month long camping trip in Europe with midsize tent and inflatable kayak. Kayak is my passenger, the rest of the stuff is in the boot and behind the seats. Last year, I had smaller inflatable kayak and it travelled in the boot with the rest of stuff.
