F1 are going to be going down the hydrogen route which suggests to me the technology will become developed rapidly and eventually make it to the road.

Nah they are going to feed cows daffodils to kill the methane.
And yet again the Germans were there first!
Fit a Beetle with a vase to carry the Daffodil.
You need to explain that one

Not sure if the still do, but when the new VW Beetle first came out it had a holder on the dash for a vase with a flower in it.

Hyundai have been selling their Nexo hydrogen car for ages now, some years at least.

Great if you live around London and need a quick fill up

If you live else where :?

I just don't see multiple 'alternative' technologies vying for supremacy when theres such a significant cost to establish refuelling infrastructure. Who is going to invest in thousands of hydrogen filling stations plus tankers distribution depots etc unlesss there's a strong probability it will become the dominant fuel? And who is going to buy a hydrogen powered car if its a PITA to find somewhere to refill?
Nice idea but almost certainly dead in the water.

I know that other manufacturers have developed hydrogen fuelled cars for many years. In London there have been Hydrogen powered buses for at least 24 years that I know of. The point of the thread was to let people know that one of the worlds biggest car manufacturers sees a place for these vehicles alongside electric cars. If there are 16 places that store Hydrogen, there can be thousands.

Hydrogen technology may well come but not yet, simply because it’s not cost competitive or green enough to justify promoting. There is nothing new in fuel cells, just like petrol engines they are more efficient than 50 yrs ago but it’s producing, transporting and distributing hydrogen that’s the problem. Currently EVs are the future, you can charge them anywhere, next generation of those will have better lighter batteries which will widen their appeal.
