Thanks for the reply. I'll need to remove the ipod connector from the back of the stereo anyway so may aswell try that option.

Its possible to reach from under the ventilation controlls with one hand. Its fipply but saves you the trouble to pull the radio and ventilation panels out.

anyone got a wiring diagram for the stereo unit? I've got 3 wires I need to identify,
red/green tracer
grey/yellow
brown.
They bypass the ipod multi plug so i need to see if they are safe to remove.
cheers, Johnny

Hello sorry to dig up an old thread.
I’ve recently purchased an e85 2003 and had the navigation system pro with cd changer.
In my ignorance I thought it would be as simple as adding in the harness with Bluetooth dongle that gets posted quite often. However this doesn’t work I’ve found out.
Is there a simple easy way like this to get Bluetooth in my e85 that someone could send me a link to?
Thanks

Hi Mcaff,
I've just got hold of a 2004 Z4, no nav, cd changer and I'm also looking to get bluetooth audio. I have lots of other priority jobs (replacement wing), but interested to know if you come across an easy solution.
Stay in touch and let me know how you get on

What's the problem with the Nav/CD changer that makes bluetooth/aux so difficult? Is it the DSP?

Yes I ended up with the “bluemusic” adapter from Amazon because mine is a DSP so doesn’t connect into the back of the headunit.

Thanks Mcaff, does this plug in to the boot in place of the CD changer wires? (As you can tell I'm not that technically savvy)Mcaff wrote: ↑Fri Aug 04, 2023 6:47 pm Yes I ended up with the “bluemusic” adapter from Amazon because mine is a DSP so doesn’t connect into the back of the headunit.

Yes pretty simple, the carpet detaches at the back and you will see the wires into the back of the cd changer. Just swap over, check the thing works then button it all back up again.moussa247 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 04, 2023 6:52 pmThanks Mcaff, does this plug in to the boot in place of the CD changer wires? Great, thanks, nice to know I won't be stuck with an FM transmitter, did you find the audio quality acceptable?

It depends what you define as acceptable really, in my case it’s a 20 year old vehicle now equipped with Bluetooth so can’t complain
I do find there is a bit of static or white noise when no music or playing at a low volume. I can live with it for the amount I drive the thing.

Thanks, something is better than nothing and it's a cheap investment, I'll look to pick one upMcaff wrote: ↑Fri Aug 04, 2023 7:14 pmIt depends what you define as acceptable really, in my case it’s a 20 year old vehicle now equipped with Bluetooth so can’t complain
