Looking for a serious controversial answer.
I drive a lot on Motorways and over the past 6 months have seen a lot of 'roof down' Z4's usually driving at about 56mph in either the middle or 3rd lane (if there are 4). This causes congestion and slows lorries and coaches limited to 60mph and can't use the right-hand lane. Anyone care to give me their reason? (you stay out of this enuff_zed, I am looking for serious answers and you make me laugh).

I used to do that in my ///MR. Just a nice relaxing way to get one back on all those caravan drivers and save a few Bob at the same time.

Because if they had a roof they could go faster without wind buffeting getting unbearable!

Lorries are restricted to 56 mph and not allowed in the 3rd lane.
What you talking about ?
I normally cruise at 80 - 90, i thank you

Nope. 60mph. Different companies get their limiters set anywhere between 55-58, more for fuel economy but also gives a little safety factor in the speed measurement

Thanks enuff, saves me and I did laugh at your reply, and for N4LLY, I did say that they cannot use the right-hand lane whether it is 3 lanes or 4.

True, I have never seen a Z4 Coupe dawdling in the middle lane or 3rd if there are 4 lanes.

Not sure what ‘normal’ motorway speeds are like in a Z4 but doing a long motorway stint at 70-90 with the roof down in a Z3 was exhausting. The constant noise and sun was unbelievably fatiguing.
As for the middle/3rd lane, it’s because they’re selfish w*****s

The Motorways where I live are all covered in cameras these days, so my normal cruising speed is now 75ish.
But the M40 is pure joy, and much quicker!

Having done 167mph with the roof down. I can confirm that I could not hear Chris Moyles.

Nice one
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.

Of course it’s not just Z4s hogging the 2nd and 3rd lanes, is it? It is quite a nice speed though with the balmy, soft wind gently caressing my hair. :Mmmmmmmm
