So bought my first z4 (09/2.5ltr) today and mind racing :) what have people done regarding power! nothing stupid but I’m guessing the engine can be safely play with! Don’t want to go full on mental, don’t even know if I want more but interested to know what the option are.

Er..not a lot..a re-map may make the mid range a bit nippier..maybe 10-15bhp at the top end which will be barely noticeable..put it into sport mode makes the throttle respond to inputs which gives the impression of being preppy..anything else will be noise and no more go..

If you want to tune a modern engine then you should have bought the 18i/20i/28i versions but I think they were out of your budget..
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…
A very modified Atacama Yellow 35is

Only mod i done K and N filter.
I have swapped it a few times for paper and stuck with the K&N simply based on how the car drives with it fitted.
Needs very little oil, usually a fuel and oil mix so it's just damp.

I’ve got the 30i which is basically the same engine as yours, this is what I’ve done to get it drive better and teeny bit more power, engine and gearbox (auto box) remap and a throttle pedal box. All of which has made a noticeable difference. Not much in power gains but makes it’s better / nicer to drive. If you want to go faster (around the bends / corners) maybe look at handling mods instead?

A 35is mod will make a massive improvement in vroom-vroom.

Thanks for that makes sense from what I have been reading. To be fair not after a raw power car (coming from a savage TTS!) so ride setup may be the right decision.
