BMW warranty claim 2

Post by Johnbmwz4 » Thu Oct 12, 2023 6:23 pm

So today I had the Z4 booked in for a minor service and brake fluid change at Sandal BMW in Wakefield. I also mentioned to them about washer fluid on my garage floor under the drivers side headlight. Anyway all went well with the service apart from the car health video which they always send when doing anything with the car telling me the rear tyres could do with replacing (4mm left on each one) and rear brake pads could do with replacing (also 4mm left) . They wanted almost £500 for the tyres and almost £200 for the rear pads. I declined their kind offer to do the work…..Anyway they couldn’t find any leaks on the headlight washer system but could see signs of dried washer fluid somewhere in the same vicinity so asked me if I would collect the car and monitor the leak to see if it gets worse. To be fair I have only seen washer fluid twice on the garage floor so is not leaking all the time. I said I was happy with that until they said they were going to charge me a diagnostic fee to check the headlight washer system. I told them I was not happy with this then mentioned that if there is evidence of a water leak in the vicinity of the headlight then there is obviously a problem and I want it fixing under warranty. I also told them of the possible headlight washer motor that could be the problem (someone on here had the same problem). He went away to speak to his manager about losing the diagnostic fee and came back with good news. They are replacing the headlight washer pump and anything else that’s required all under warranty. Obviously I have to pay the £100 excess but very happy with the outcome.
On another note they gave me an electric I4 as a courtesy car. What a machine. It’s the first electric car I have driven and I am very impressed. If only they would make an electric Z4……….

An EV Z4 arggggg  No nice sounds.
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.

I stopped watching F1 when they turned the sound off!
Might as well watch scalextric!
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

Too much unnecessary weight, the E89 are heavy enough as they are. :)

Yep. A friend's wife bought him a £3,000 F1 weekend package for his birthday, including £1,000 to David Coulthard for accommodation. It was the first hybrid year. My friend still shakes his head in despair at the mention of it.
