Looks like a nice car, do you really have to break it up, wouldn't it be better to just wait a couple of days and then sell it on to someone who would cherish it as it is. Like usual
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.

As a previous owner of 2 x 2.8’s and a 3.2, that one does look to be a rather good example. And 3 litres are pretty hard to come by - even Topaz ones . Were there no ratted-out ones for sale to act as potential donor?

Yeah loads, but I really do not see the logic in buying a knackered, high mileage Z3 and then spending loads of money converting it. The conversion will cost the same no matter what base car it's on, so a good car underneath will make the conversion a better car, no?
Lots of people do buy 140k miles 2.8s for £2k and then spend £30k converting it. It's still a £2k knackered car underneath...that's my logic anyway. Also, it's pretty common knowledge that I am allergic to high mileage cars. I'm on tablets for it!

So after a day and a half 'having a look' it turns out to be a really good car. Lots of baked on mud (think it was owned by a farmer TBH) but that seems to have protected it a bit as it is as solid as a rock. No rust anywhere!
The offside front brake seems to be binding a little but it passed an MOT last week with no advisories!
The water leak isn't from the roof; it's from the aerial rubber. Perished and split. Bit of silicone for now (that is going when the wing comes off).
Explains why the radio has no signal; the aerial terminal is soaked and all rusted/ corroded. All dried and sorted!
Engine bay needs a good clean, oil needs changing (age rather than mileage) and the coolant needs topping up, just need to work out what is in it!
A/C doesn't work (no gas) but that is hardly surprising as it's been sat idle for at least 18 months. I can sort that myself if needs be, but I think the A/C will be redundant for what I want to do.

Very honest advert, but I can’t see a price, no details on the service history and it’s in the wrong sectionPondrew wrote: ↑Fri Oct 20, 2023 10:12 pm So after a day and a half 'having a look' it turns out to be a really good car. Vacillate endlessly over several threads about which car to buy, then buy none of them. Make a rash purchase of something you don’t really want, then sell it immediately to make way for more dithering…Pondrew wrote: …I think the A/C will be redundant for what I want to do.
I can see why A/C would be superfluous to that
