Where get my E89 cam chain replaced?

Post by tonyg » Sat Nov 04, 2023 12:01 am

Looking for somewhere near me who can replace my chain on my E89? Although can was registered in May 2015 I’m fairly sure it’s got the brown cam shin guide? I live near Hertford and would be open to someone north London up to Cambridge. I’d like them to confirm beforehand whether I do have the upgraded guide. I’m sure there was a garage who replaced BMW cam chain damaged engines somewhere in Beds area, and maybe they would be good?

Is it feasible to don the job in a single day, allowing me to drive it there and back on the same day?
Thanks, Tony

There is this place in Hook Hampshire. I am sure you could get a train back. viewtopic.php?p=1702016&hilit=southampt ... t#p1702016

BMW specialist cars in Stevenage. Have you tried them? There is also a BMW approved garage in Letchworth

It’s going to be more than a day if you want them to check before ordering parts..it’s a pretty full day to fit…you need to do the oil pump drive at the same time..
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…
A very modified Atacama Yellow 35is
