Taxi cost

They're always quick enough to to put up their fares when the price of fuel spikes but seems to me they don't then bring them back down as fuel prices return to normal levels. :headbang:

I was just quoted £27.50 (one way) for a taxi on Christmas Day, from home to a hotel for lunch. 17 miles distance, I thought that was very good.

‘Er indoors’ has changed her mind though, she now wants to drive and limit herself to one small glass of Chardonnay. I can’t argue with that :)

Man math dictates that you therefore have an additional 27.50 * 2 to spend on anything you like

Make it £60 including a tip. A couple of bottles of wine?

Just be careful, you still have to deduct the value of the Chardonnay (small glass of course) and a couple of pounds for the fuel for the car.

I forgot about the Chardonnay and fuel, makes the deal rather less attractive :)

Suspect if she is anything like my other half, she will be storing up the brownie points for something very expensive in the not too distant future.

Or recent past that had not made the statement yet

Another variation on the theme - we could stay overnight at the hotel for £125 inc breakfast! Man maths says that this not on, I’d be about £60 down compared to her driving, give or take a small Chardonnay :)

On the other hand, getting back home on Christmas night sounds cosy, before facing family duties on Boxing Day.

Just had another quote and have it down to £52 each way which is the same price as the car park.

Travelling on a Sunday so out of curiosity asked for the price for a Saturday and it dropped by £12 each way.

With the cost of petrol being the same on Sundays as Saturdays and the drivers being self employed, Why the price difference?
