After a successful trip to France last year in the E89 we have booked a ferry from Holyhead to Dublin to tour the South for two weeks. Any recommendations/places to explore etc? We are initially heading on the east coast to Dungannon then round towards the Ring of Kerry.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Kevin.

I'm jealous!
Having spent many holidays in the past (including honeymoon) in Southern Ireland all I can say is there are many, many beautiful places. Clonmel, Cashel, Cork and Galway are all lovely. There are some spectacular hotels aswell, depending on budget. Tinakilly House Hotel on the east coast, south of Dublin was my favourite.
The West coast is generally very rugged; again some beautiful old hotels too.
Ireland is bigger than it looks. Have fun.

All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

Take a map and don't solely rely on Sat nav, or you will end up on a single track road with grass growing down the middle!
Also in the past, (pre Sat Nav days admittedly) I've come to a fork in the road to find no road signs whatsoever
Alternatively you'll see a sign for say Dublin, 20 miles. Drive for 15-20 mins to be met with the next one that says Dublin 18 miles
Roads outside the main towns/cities are very quiet, don't be surprised to get a wave from the locals as you pass through the more remote villages.
Beautiful place, I'm currently considering the Atlantic Way route (or part of it). Enjoy

I spent two years working in Cork and Dublin (Viagra and Lipitor ) and travelled between the two using various company cars.
From that experience, I would not take my own car, but it was great fun with the cars-I-don't-care-about. Some beautiful scenes, nice places to stay and some roads that are great "funded by the EU"
