Switching from RHD to LHD - Europe Trip!

Post by Abbas » Thu Jan 11, 2024 11:47 am

Morning all,

Can't seem to find definitive help online for this, so apologies if it's already been talked about on here. I've got a little European road trip planned this summer. I've never driven through Europe before, so just found out I need to switch my lights from RHD to LHD so I don't blind oncoming traffic or something. I've been told some cars have a switch. Otherwise I need to stick on deflectors. Does my E86 have a switch? If so, where is it?

Thanks in advance!

I think the switch on the right of the dash light switch unit does that. It is 13 years since I drove my Z4 in Europe though, so I might have that wrong.

Mine doesn't have thoise additional switches :( I think it varies based on Xenon / Halogen etc.

However, I found this after another search > https://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopi ... 0&start=35

Which perfectly answers my Q. Sorted!

There's no chance in hell an E85 or E86 Z4 headlights could ever blind anyone.

One candle power on each headlight as per the original design mistake!

I wouldn't bother switching the lights over,my cars registered in france and i switch over only for the controle technique every two years as it just cuts the beam,i do a fair bit of night time driving and I've never been flashed by oncoming traffic.

haha that's good to know! Might not bother then. I can just take those stickers with me to be safe incase I get pulled up? They seem a lot less faff than sticking my head in the wheel arches to be honest

You could do but tbh I don't think you're ever going to get pulled for it. Put it this way, nobody that comes to the UK puts stickers on thieir lights
