VO E89

Post by Baz VO » Mon Jan 15, 2024 10:16 pm

several years ago I used to go to asda in Cardiff and park near a white z4. I loved it and was always tempted but needed a bigger car. I did a bit of window shopping as you do and loved the VO colour and package. Over the next few years id have a look and see what was for sale. The VO was always several K more so wrote that off.

Just before Christmas a VO 20i popped up for sale privately and after a few days I made enquiries but wasn't really committed. I know these have chain issues and after owning a mini it something id get done so I can sleep at night. I priced it in to the purchase price and made a low offer and a bit of back and forth came to a price that was worth checking out. Who wants to buy a z4 on Christmas eve right .

Day after boxing day I drove to view the car, now i wasn't sure about the orange interior before thing it may be to bright and I know a few have black but on viewing it was fine not to loud at all. We had done negotiations before viewing so I paid the money and then drove back to cardiff to sort insurance and tax then back to collect. Quite a day tbh as the weather was shocking for days after. I also had to go to Lincolnshire the day after for a week and then back to 12 hour shifts so didnt get to see the car in day light for 2 weeks

Im keeping the Volvo c30 for a while as the 2.4d loves the mileage but is being replace with a camper van this year :(

Tomorrow the car is off to B&R in Cardiff for new chains, guides and other bits plus an oil and spark plug change along with a check over. Not cheap but peace of mind so rather get it done now and I can enjoy the car with no clenched bum cheeks.

She's had a new air freshener so far but jobs are

Clean and wax possibly this week. Interior is pretty immaculate tbh

New wipers - on order
New mats soon. possibly oem ones for summer maybe before depending
Wheel refurb around april/may
few stone chips ill sort when I can
Fit cruise control at some point.
Parking sensors again some point, possibly reverse camera.
Update/check maps on sat nav. wont use it as use google maps but nice to have latest edition
program folding mirrors on lock

probably more jobs but some love tomorrow at b&r then a wash and I can get some decent pics.

Hi and welcome with your second best colour E89! :poke:

As for mats, go OEM every time. Aftermarket ones are no cheaper and rubbish IME.
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

F31 320i. Good car.
E89 20i Now fully dried
Z3 'free litre'. Project and a half. Complicated!
Mazda3 sold
Tatty old R56 Mini Cooper. Money pit!

We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…

Thanks for the welcome.

Car is now in bits at B&R  but should be back tomorrow. fingers crossed they dont find anything else that needs doing.

Wipers are a pita. its up for one wipe in the Volvo and the opposite in the z4 so a bit of a pain  actually not getting intermittent so that needs checking out.

Chilly morning car was still frozen by the time I got to the garage. Another Vo e89 pullled up next to me at the lights which was very unexpected.
