This GoShorty blog amused me: https://goshorty.co.uk/blog/a-midlife-c ... he-new-40/

Although I'm well-beyond my midlife I confess to owning two on this list plus another one which I sold to buy the Z4. So 3/20 for me - how about everyone else?
Now: 2022 Z4 G29 M40i, SFR/Cognac, Comfort, Driving & Technology Packs, collected 22/02/2022, 2017 Mustang S550 GT 5.0l Manual & 1978 Triumph Stag 3.0l manual
Before: 1974 Jaguar E Type S3 V12 OTS & 2019 Mazda MX-5 2.0l GT Sport Nav+

Other than the z4 none of these…..but perhaps I am lucky in that I have never NOT had a “flash” car whatever flash means nowadays. But it’s not for showing off. It’s because they exhibit technological prowess or are fun to drive or look epic. It’s certainly not to make me look cool as most of the time I drive a Fiat 500…..I imagine I don’t follow the stereotype. I would hate to be seen in any of the other cars mentioned even if I can understand the draw of a 911.

None of them for me.

My next door neighbour did say a couple of years ago when I was out cleaning the previous E89; "got yourself a mid life crisis car then?"
I just said "yeah, you should have got one when you had yours 15 years ago, you old tosser".
We are not on the best of terms TBH. :D
And our Z4s are actually the wife's anyway.
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

F31 320i. Good car.
E89 20i Now fully dried
Z3 'free litre'. Project and a half. Complicated!
Mazda3 sold
Tatty old R56 Mini Cooper. Money pit!

Only the Z4 after 50 and the Golf prior to 50.

Not many others on the list I would consider owning to be honest

I've only had 2 on that list, but I did have my Golf GTis when I was mid-life!

My Z4 journey started when I was more "later-life".

The only others on the list I'd like to try are the Mustang (V8 only) and 911.
Coupes because stunning!
Current - Silver Grey MC, Imola Red heated Nappa & carbon trim. Aeros, H & R Coil-overs, 224s, OE Strut brace, Nav, cup-holders, DSP Hi-Fi, pdc, cruise, MFSW, no CDV! E90 330i daily
Gone - Montego Blue
Gone - Ruby Black

A Mustang GT (V8) is my other daily driver, as much of a contrast to my Z4 as I could wish but if you think an M40 sounds good then just listen to a 5l Ford Coyote at 6,000 rpm!

I always fancied a V12, DB9 was the one. I spotted one around the corner yesterday. Another neighbour having a midlife crisis.

I haven't tried an M40i but I can appreciate the sound of a Coyote at 6,000 rpm must be pretty special.

But then I think my S54 sounds epic at 8,000rpm. :D
