Hi,
Hopefully someone on here can help diagnose a knocking sound coming from the lower left hand side of my engine.
Car is a 2006 3.0si,
I know these are known for lifters making a sound, but don’t know if this is that or something more sinister.
Knocking car be heard towards the end of the video

Have you a pheasant wrapped around the fan belt?? That’s the extent of my technical abilities. Sorry. Good luck.

Is that low down rumble noise easier to hear from the drivers front wheel well?
I had the same offbeat clatter/rumble on a previous 130i with the same N52. Sometimes it was more obvious than other times.. but easier to hear when aiming your ears under the drivers front wheel well.
And no, it was not the clutch release bearing rattle..
I never diagnosed it, neither did my BMW mechanic.
It never got any worse over the 40k or so miles..

If it was that then it would be more of a flapping noise.R17SKO wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2024 9:45 pmThat’s made me do a bit of a weejenniferlouise wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2024 7:11 pm Have you a pheasant wrapped around the fan belt?? That’s the extent of my technical abilities. Sorry. Good luck.
