Hi All - I know this subject has been done to death but…
I’ve got x2 brand new rear light clusters for my 2013 e89 to fit.
I’m a bit thrown by the 1st picture below which shows another gasket as a separate part which didn’t come with the cluster units.
I can’t see much online about whether this gasket is needed/already on the car/already part of the cluster/should be replaced along with new clusters??
Anyone got any idea?

See my photo...
Are these bits rubberised? It could be that the rubber gasket is screwed in under that plastic part.
No idea of course, but it looks like it might be?
It’s been ages since I changed one.

Ah you may well be right, would certainly make sense anyway. It just threw me that the listing showed it as a separate item but I guess it could just be purchased separately if the existing one was perished?

There is only one rubber seal around the bulb aperture as you show on the picture

Thanks, so that’s built into the cluster itself then and there is no separate gasket?

When you fit the light, you need to make sure those rubber pieces properly go through to the interior of the car. And not get stuck or jammed in.
I don’t think there would be space for another gasket, but when you fit you can check if there is a gap. I imagine it’s the part already inside the light cluster.
If you have the old ones, you could unscrew that part and see if there is a part number stamped into the gasket.

Item 5 could be the internal gasket between the bulb holders and the main body..
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…
