2014 Z4 35iS Valencia Orange
After almost 3 years, it's time to sell the car - one of just 264 Valencia Orange 35iS ever made. It'll be on here for a couple of weeks before it goes on autotrader, I'd love for it to be bought by someone who will continue to love it.
It has been looked after by BMW dealerships until I decided not to renew the warranty at the end of 2021, and then by Birds BMW ever since - arguably the best regarded N54 experts in the UK.
Mechanically it has had no expense spared (anyone playing car advert cliche bingo?), but although it still looks stunning there are some aesthetic details that most forum owners would want to touch up. The front bumper corner had a scrape recently (the joys of having to leave it parked on street in a city centre every night) and there's a scratch on the adjacent wheel arch.
There are stone chips as you'd expect for the age and mileage, and if it doesn't sell then I would get the front bumper resprayed as soon as I can park off street again.
There are also a couple of areas where the lacquer has come away, on the bumper and on the drivers side skirt just in front of the rear wheel. I suspect both are from stone chips, and have both been there for around a year and have not worsened - it isnt peeling. I haven't bothered rectifying while on street as they're only noticable up close.
There are some scrapes on the wheels, but nothing too horrific.
Final fault is the drivers side door pillar tweeter/speaker - I have a replacement which will be fitted when I have time.
Optional extras:
- cruise control
- heated seats
- parking sensors
- 0677 hifi professional (top speaker option)
- iDrive
- design pure traction interior
Modifications are mostly quite subtle and more OEM+ than anything too outlandish:
- MHD off the shelf map stage 1 (about 365bhp so not much more than standard, can be removed before sale)
- MHD linear throttle, 1M throttle response, slightly louder pops and bangs in sport mode, slightly quieter in comfort mode (can all be removed before sale)
- BMW E90 M3 front upper and lower control arms
- eibach Pro kit lowering springs (only very slightly lower)
- BMW 788M wheels (from the M2 Competition)
- BMW black front grill
- gloss black M-Sport style wing mirrors (originals also included in the sale)
- BMW 2002 turbo badge (easy to remove)
- wing and boot badges removed
- smarttop for one touch window and roof operations
- gloss black painted side indicators and roll hoops
- miami blue wrapped V bars behind front grill (can be removed prior to sale)
- diamond floor mats to protect the originals underneath and carpets
- alexa auto
- wireless phone charge with magnetic mount wired into dash
I'll throw in two rear boot lip spoilers as well, never been fitted. One is hard plastic, gloss black, and slightly scuffed from being in a cupboard for a year. The other is a weird floppy rubbery thing, colour coded Valencia Orange.
Tyres are all non-runflat Continental SportContact 7:
Front 245/35 - August 2022 at least 4mm left, if not more
Rear 275/30 - September 2023 have done fewer than 4,000 miles
New battery March 2023.
Service history:
06.5.2016 oil service, main dealer 15,240
25.8.2018 oil & plugs, main dealer 31,005
10.9.2020 oil servic, main dealer 43,896
30.6.2021 oil service, main dealer 48,601
17.11.2021 oil & brake fluid, main dealer 52,326
05.12.2021 6 x 1 step cooler plugs 52,500
05.9.2022 oil service, Birds BMW 57,741
23.8.2023 oil & brake fluid, Birds BMW 66,456
Roughly twice as many services as BMW recommend.
- 3 x dampers replaced @ 38k miles
- sump gasket replaced @ 51k miles
- rocker cover gasket replaced @ 53k miles
- 4 x springs replaced @ 58k miles
- 6 x ignition coils replaced @ 58k miles
- front discs and pads replaced @ 60k miles
- windscreenwipers replaced @ 61k miles
Current mileage 71,920 (car still in use, so will go up). The car has been looked after and loved, in the 25,000 miles I've owned it the engine has always been allowed to warm up before going past 3,000 revs.
Asking price is £15,995 so as of time of posting it is cheaper than all but one 35iS on autotrader, despite the year and spec.
Very happy to answer any questions, provide any extra detail, take more photos/videos.

Great looking car but suggest removal of the Turbo badge on the boot may improve the look?

that's an outrageous comment, it looks sensational!
It is on the list of things to do to make it more likely to sell, but the badge is worth about £100 and can be easily removed, so it should really be seen as added value

It's just wrong - it should say "twin turbo" surely?
Anyway it's my favourite colour for an E89 so GLWTS.
Coupes because stunning!

Thanks!
I'm claiming it's short for turbocharged...

The "turbo" badge doesn't do it any favours IMO. Nice car though.

As already stated above, the badge will come off, I'm in no rush to sell so it's not urgent. No need to say sorry, we all have our own tastes and opinions.
I'll need to keep it for my next car anyway
Appreciate the feedback!

What's next, then... a 1998 Corsa 1.2?
For anybody interested; this is a real 'forum' car. Owned by two forum regulars, which generally means it has been well looked after and pampered. Hideous badges aside, obviously!
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.
F31 320i. Good car.

Z3 'free litre'. Project and a half. Complicated!

Last time something went wrong I spent best part of £700 at Bird's (2 hours drive from me) for what turned out to be an ignition coil. So, yeah, money has been spent/wasted on making sure it's as mechanically sound as possible.
Next up I'm considering a Panda, G29 M40i, R53 Mini Cooper S, Mazda MX-5 with a BBR supercharger if still available, Yeti, Alfa Giulia QV, 20 year old Maserati V8 in any form, or anything interesting that pops up in an online auction. I'll probably start with the Panda. Or just keep the Z4.

Panda never had a turbo so that is a waste of the badge. You could go for a Ritmo Turbo though

There are a few twinair engined newer models out there, which I think has a small turbo.
My 65bhp 1994 Astra didn't have any kind of forced induction, but the "supercharged" badge from a Range Rover still stuck on quite nicely.
