Aldridge Trimmers in Wolverhampton have an excellent reputation for upholstery. They're often used on the TV programme Car SOS.

Had the seat re-trimmed in MrsG's Mx5 recently, by a shop in Ivybridge. Alas that is too far from you to be of much use.

Found a chap in Barnard Castle who’s happy and confident to tackle the job, recommended by another Zedite …I’ll get my eye sight tested at the same time

Hardest part of finding a local upholsterer is....finding them IME.
There will be one within a 20 mile radius, it's just finding them that can be difficult. Most don't seem (no pun) to advertise, as they work in their garden shed or spare bedroom and it's all word-of-mouth.
I have been looking for a local trimmer recently and have been struggling. I eventually called the most local chap I could find who advertises, even though he didn't do what I need. He knew a couple of other local people and gave me their numbers. I now have two options for bespoke interiors, neither advertise anywhere.

All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

You think Peter needs Specsavers??
I initially thought he was getting the dash done in black, blue and yellow stripes!

The journey back begins…re-covered dash goes back in…Bondarised plastic lugs hold up…after forgetting some key cables for the centre speaker necessitating a removal and re-fit the dash is home and secured ..only got to put everything else back now..
Very hard work trying to get the new leather with 3mm foam to fit in and around the various orifices..very glad I used a professional rather than trying my luck..
Put lots of sticky backer felt tape to deaden the rattle of plastics..
